Courses & Workshops
I host regular, and seasonal 3-day, courses in my new studio in Hampshire. I also teach on workshops at The Eden Project, in Cornwall, and RHS Rosemoor, and other art groups and societies including The South West Society of Botanical Artists SWSBA , The Bath Society of Botanical Artists, and Field Breaks residential workshops in Derbyshire (contact Sue Field at firstname.lastname@example.org ).
My new, purpose built studio is situated in my garden, adjacent to beautiful countryside in the Test Valley, and is an ideal location to get absorbed in botanical art.
I love teaching beginners as well as those with experience - I have been teaching since 2008. A tried and tested step-by-step approach allows beginners to realise they can achieve their goal, and go on to perfect their individual technique & style with time and practice. More advanced techniques are given to the more experienced artist.
My new Studio is beautifully lit, and includes an extensive library of reference books.
My classes are small and friendly ( a maximum of 8), allowing plenty of time for individual guidance and tuition. All students are encouraged to develop and work at their own pace.
Three Day Workshops (2018)
Spring Bulbs and Flowers - March 9th -11th (inc)
Seasonal bulbs and spring flowers are the focus of this three day workshop.
Summer Colours - June 22nd - 24th (inc)
Focusing on textures and colours we will look at bringing richness into our paintings.
Fruits of Autumn - Sept. 28th - 30th (inc)
We will be looking at seasonal flowers and fruits, focusing on achieving fine detail in your work.
Weekends Away (2018)
As well as my 3-day themed workshops in 2018, I am hosting “Weekends Away”. These two-day sessions are where you can come and work on your drawing & painting skills and/or your compositions on a regular basis. You might wish to take time out to practice new skills and techniques, or continue working on a composition you’ve already started.
If you are a beginner, then I am offering a structure to the weekends over the eight sessions to enable you to develop your skills in a logical manor. (See suggested themes in brackets)
Those wishing different themes & techniques to those listed can request them any time by asking in advance.
I can also offer practical advise to those working on submissions to the RHS, art society submissions, diplomas, or even a Florilegium. Suitable for all abilities.
